Author Topic: Bad news for me  (Read 2737 times)

I had a few save files that i never wanted to lose, I thought they would backup all the files (as they said) but they lied. I'm going to send evil bunnys that eat people brains to a PC world staff meeting.
They did not necessarily lie, they back upped things THEY thought were important, they had no idea you enjoyed playing online lego games and needed all the 302905 add ons you had

its good to reformat every 6 months anyways.
its alot to reinstall, with my must have programs and games.
but its a clean feeling you just cant upkeep day to day.
I have OCD and I'd be afraid of losing something.
It doesn't help that I actually did lose a lot of work when I did reformat.

Get AVG, Avast!, Nod32, and common sense, then suddenly your computer doesn't ever fail or suck; that and uninstalling programs you haven't used in 4,6,or 8 months is a good idea.
Yeah, load up your computer with a bunch of AVs, and then imply you have common sense.
Best idea ever.

I also don't have antivirus software and never will.
You only get viruses if you are stupid.
Some do seem to jump at me out of nowhere, or even innocent looking sites. But these kinds of things sneak past AV anyways, and are easy for me to get rid of.
I'd rather not waste money on something that hogs memory and doesn't do it's job in the end.

didn't avast sound a siren and go "A VIRUS HAS BEEN DETECTED ON YOUR COMPUTER" in a really loud robotic voice?

Yes.
Someone also ported them as songs or sounds or something into Blockland.

Correction: "Caution! A virus has been detected!"

You're kinda right :s

Also, yes I thought that it was a bad idea too, Kalph. Why couldn't they have just done something that zapped bad things off your comp. We can send people to the moon, why can't we do this?

We can do these things. They are just trained to reformat if it's not a hardware issue. Not the brightest folk.

hmm? There is no downside, plus I get full protection from 99% of viruses and malicious stuff, plus unlike you - probably- I know what I am doing on a computer; I'm not just some script kiddie guide taught person (Not implying you are either, Just saying I know what I am doing/talking about). :3

There is a downside.
Wasted memory, processing, and annoying auto-protection.
I tear down any baddies that attack my computer with no overpriced bodyguards.

I have them setup properly, so no? :3
You "tear down"- right, I highly doubt any REAL hackers play Blockland (bisjac aside).

 /move this stuff to drama.

Tom

So you payed someone to wipe your computer and they were stupid enough to only back up shortcuts?

even when my volume is down, avast shouts at me from across the room.
"AVAST HAS UPDATED!!!!!!!"

like thank you, jesus christ i can read you know.

Computer Shouting : "Avast Virus Database has been updated"
me:  "Erm thank you computer?
" "No problem, now please go back to bed"
me:  "erm..wait what the forget.." *trys to turn computer off, it doesn't*
"I'm sorry dave, I can't let you do that
me: "...."

Sucks. My dad had a similar virus. Blocked BitDefender (a really good Virus protector) Luckily he got rid of it because there were 2 comps in the same room. Steps?

1.) went to safe mode
2.) got Kapersky
3.) got a program thingy from my comp
4.) put it into a flash drive
5.) put it on his comp
6.) virus killed within minutes

you ask what Kapersky had anything to do with this? Kapersky website has the killer and is compliant with Kapersky.

I wish i had avast at that point :C

Also, I think I got the virus from this pop up that looked like my files and said I have 240 viruses and it had a loading saying they were getting rid of the viruses. It looked suspicious so I immediately closed... I must've been too late D:.
