Physical games bought from stores use some hard drive space for saves and such, But only games bought on PSN and downloaded take up a large amount of space.

A 40gb PS3 will hold hundreds of songs, more PHYSICAL DISK data and stuff like that then you would probably need, and probably around 2 dozen games downloaded off the PSN store. (Heavily dependent on game file size)

So no worries for you there.

Besides you can always redownload or reinstall games if you deleted them
