What's a Good Scripting Language to Learn?

I tried C++, but that's just too hard.

I tried Java, but it's too hard and I had compiler problems.

All I can think of now is ActionScript (Flash), or Game Maker, but Game Maker is for games only. :/

Edit: I prefer one that uses functions, HOWEVER, I do not mind other types.

Another Edit: I prefer one that can be used to make games, if that helps.

Anyway, to answer OP's question, if you're just looking for a language for beginners, I'd personally recommend C++, but if you were to learn C++, I'd also recommend purchasing a book or two on C++ from your local bookstore. I have 4 books on C languages myself, and I'll soon be adding a fifth.

But that's just me. There are, of course, easier ones. However, really any C language is a good place to start.
