Always reliable, loyal, able to teach tricks, loving, funny to watch at times, able to be played with, comforting, trained to pee outside, don't have to clean up stuff out of a litterbox, adorable, and ver helpful if you want it to be -> dogs
Fun to watch, able to be by themselves, very loving at times -> cats

I say dogs. But most cats aren't that bad.

1. Loving, funny to watch at times, comforting, and adorable are all opinions.
2. Almost every domesticated cat is trained to go to the bathroom outside. I've known plenty of dogs and most of them stuff inside the house and tried to eat it.
3. Very helpful IF YOU WANT IT TO BE? Dogs aren't just going to be helpful if you want them to. You have to train them.

How many cats have you actually known for over a year? I've known seven cats in total, four of them for six years, the other three for 14. None of them were ever lazy (always slept near me/other owner and some caught vermin) and never have bitten anybody except a stranger when they were young.
