The best thing to do would be send it to the manufacturers. Even if you don't have warranty, let them open it and replace the hard drive. I'm sure it will cost much less.

Darn, that message sounds similar to an error people would get on their laptops, at my old school. There was some way to actually fix it, but I cannot remember. Although, the fact that this is a desktop and not a laptop probably means the problem is different anyways.

So you want him to pry it open, take out hard drive, then have no idea where to get a new one, forget where the other hard drive went, oh stuff.

And if he has warranty, that would also get rid of it by opening computer
