Author Topic: Rock Or Rap?  (Read 8973 times)

I would choose rock, I don't really care for rap. The only rap artist I would listen to (on occasion) would be KJ-52. I'm not really one for super-fast talk; I'd use the term "gibberish" lightly, as some rap you can actually understand. I don't like rap that has no true meaning to it's words, and a meaning that's good at that.

On a side note:
•I'd rarely listen to scream bands. I can't understand a word they're saying.
•Metal/heavy metal is okay, but I don't like it when they put too much... stress on the whole concept of death and suffering. I like it when the guitar sounds decent and doesn't sound like newbs dishing out random notes. The only metal/heavy artists I'd listen to would be Evanescence and, if you would count them in this genre, Linkin Park.

Just stating my opinion, don't flame me for it.

Classical music... Forgot it :D

 I love classical music...<3

Did you even bother to read my post?

"Rap isn't just what you hear on the radio", and the only reason people think it's bad is because of the things on the radio, it's stereotyped by what people hear on the radio/TV

No. I didn't bother to read your post. Did you want me to read every god damn post?

both are stuff

There are some good songs out there in both rock and, admittedly, rap. But yeah, classical tops them both.

August Burns Red (I guess they place on the Rock side of things) did some sweet covers the past few years. I just thought I'd link you guys to them as it is the holiday season and it somewhat relates. Also, now I don't have to start a new topic for them.

Carol of the Bells
O Come, O Come Emmanuel
Little Drummer Boy

I roll Tchaikovsky like a pro

on CS:S: Hard rock or dark metal
Daily life: Metal (Megadeth/Judas Preist)

Groove
I see that as a kind of melodic metal. Am I somewhat imagining that right or is it totally wrong?

I read this as "Rock Or Rape?" for a sec there. :o

Sorry.

Nah, that's about right - perfect example, Lamb of God is generally said to be groove metal.

I'd obviously listen to rock. Right now I'm listening to a playlist of Diablo, Metallica and splashes of Eluveitie (and Ten Masked Men's covers of Sledgehammer and Cry Me A River) which is pretty damn cool.

My normal playlist consists of:
Dark Tranquility (formerly headed by Anders from In Flames, and quite similar) - Melodic Metal
Mors Principium Est - Melodic Death Metal
Universum - Death Metal
Lamb of God - Groove Metal
Slipknot - Heavy Metal
Turmion Katilot - Industrial Metal
Racer X - Hard Rock
Daysend - Melodic Metal
Brocas Helm - Metal
Eluveitie - Melodic Folk Death Metal (yes, FOLK DEATH METAL)
Dethklok - Death Metal

Mostly odd songs rather than full discographies of each, comes to only 196 songs for 13 hours of listening time (which isn't much considering that it's literally on 24/7, there's enough variety to keep me happy)

Rock.

Rap is either "SHAWTAY IN DA CLUB" or "forget ASS CUNT stuff BITCH."

it is also completly unoriginal.

"Life is a movie and I just got you Tivo'd"

"You spin my head right round round round when you go down when you go down now"
