a mega huge turn off for me is that APB$ weapons expire in 10 days.

No, Skateaton just doesn't bother reading the blog and forgets the game is still in Beta. The weapons are leasing right now so that they can test the leasing system. It's an alternative form of getting weapons, there will be a permanent purchase option in the future.
