Author Topic: Dedicated Hosting Service [REQUESTING PAYMENT]  (Read 28455 times)

I am now requesting payment for those who want to participate. PM me your e-mail (PayPal-linked e-mail is best but it could be any e-mail you own).
You have until January 1st to PM me about buying a server, or else you'll have to wait until February.

Top-of-the-line server to host a dedicated server for people. It includes console access (using eval) and FTP access. The server itself has about 8 GB of memory and a quadcore CPU, thus making it easy to host 10s of BL servers at once. Each player has a few gigabytes of space to utilize.

Why use a remote server?
This server is very powerful and can support many servers with many players. The server is in a datacenter which means the server is going to be reliable, 99.9% uptime. ISPs also limit your bandwidth and how fast you can upload or download. With a real dedicated server, these limits are to what the technology can do. Using a remote dedicated server would be a lot faster and more reliable.
Servers tested with 60 players worked perfectly fine.

ALL OTHER MONTHS: $10.00 / month

I've yet to figure out how to accept a client in the middle of the month. Right now I'm accepting clients at a set point of the month.

The extra $5 for the first month will be payed back to you

Five to ten dollars, it would be worth it.

eh, i'd just use my laptop to host one

I pay 35$ a month.
But that's for an actual server.
I could actually host for others.

I would pay 5-10 if the servers quality, and could host 30+ players without lag.

Yes, based on splitting the server, it requires 30 people to pay about $149 per month which in turn means $4.96 per person. The server would include a $204 setup fee on the master host's side.

If everyone would pay a part of the setup fee in one month, it would an extra $6.8 from every person assuming it would be payed within one month.
To pay it off in three months, it would require $2.27. Assuming the three-month fee, it means $7.27 for the first three months and then $5 from then on. That in turn means no profit, so that wouldn't be a good for anything at all. A good example would be $8 for the first three months then $7 from then on. That would bring in $60 per month for the up-front hoster. Within 3.4 months, another server can be bought so that another 30 or so players can host.

Depending on how fast it is, I'd pay for it.

If it's a slow server hosted in some WoW addicts garage I'd pay about $5,
but if it's a smooth, good connection server I'd pay about $5-$10.

isn't it against the Motd to make a profit off of this game? Like, paying for servers :o

 For Badspot?

Isn't there a way to host dedicated servers without paying at all?

Yes, however, if you pay for a remote dedicated server, it's much more powerful and can support many more players and heavier processing. Also much more reliable and 24/7.

I'm addicted to wow and my servers arn't slow, >:U

Also I voted $20+, seeing how it's monthly.
