Author Topic: Port forwarding Garry's Mod  (Read 17517 times)

I want to play Garry's Mod with a friend, so I go to PortForward.com to see. But, Garry's Mod isn't in the list of games. Help.

The ports you need to do are 27000 -> 27015.

It's halflife on portforward.com

Are you sure it isn't Half-Life 2? Anyway, they say that in the Service Name box, I should type Name1 or Name2. That just doesn't sound right.

Usually if your router isn't handicapped, you put in the port aka 27000 then in the 2nd port box you put 27015, then it'll say something like 192.168.1.  Here you put your computers IP to your router, ie 100 if its the Main computer on the router network. Then you choose whether its UDP or TCP or Both, if it has like a Name box, thats just to remind you with the port is actually doing so you put something like Gmod.

I meant to add a 2 on the end of that.

How do I know which one I should take?

Just do both. It makes it easier.

I did it like this. I covered my IP for obvious reasons, but I know I typed the right IP. I asked my friend to try it out, and it didn't work.

I believe just about all source games use the same port.
So mine is called "steam games"
It was a preset in my router :D

I don't have any preset named Steam Games or Garry's Mod. Does anyone know what I did wrong?

Now I read everything at portforward.com; I'm supposed to apply settings in 2 sets of lines; port 4380 in the first one and 27000-27015 in the second!! Okay, I'm going to try that now

I was going to post a link to steam support but it makes the forums shout at me about referral links.
