well they're both racing games. and yeah, i enjoy mario kart a lot more.
for that matter, both are dream-based horror (or really just "holy stuff what the forget is that") games, so yeah, it's a pretty doable comparison.

I don't think LSD is supposed to be horror.  It's like morrowind for me, it's creepy anyway.  Low poly things are surprisingly scary.
