WTF moment in The Sims 3

So, my sim is in his bedroom, painting, when all of a sudden a part of the living room floor spontaneously combusted. WTF. Apparently, putting fireplaces on wooden floors is a bad idea. It just left ashes, though, nothing was even damaged.

I can't. The smoke detector alerted the fire department.

Sell the fire alarm. 

I did this once. I was freaking out until common sense kicked in, and I remembered wood burns.

Put fireplace on small section of rock floor, then put the rest on hardwood?
