Author Topic: Is this OK for a minor-ish gaming computer?  (Read 1693 times)

Hey, guys. Why don't you tell me the difference between playing a game at 30fps and 40fps. You guys are all morons.
Both are under the human visual rate of 60fps, so it would seem slo-motion-y

considering the human eyes sees at 60fps.
What? No it doesn't.

Hey. You suck.

And that proves what?  That 60 fps looks better than 24 fps?  We already knew that.  The human eye isn't just limited to 60 fps.

There is an obvious difference in quality. Why would you spend all of your money now on (currently) outdated stuff when you could buy an actually used decent computer or wait perhaps another few months for something of actually quality. This is making a crap-ton of sense to me; I don't know why you don't understand it.

Because you're bringing up the most random stuff ever.

I just want to say:
I want this computer I have now, gone A.S.A.P. CPU Usage is constantly hitting 12% idle with no "enhancements" running the background. It's usually about 20% - 25% while Songbird is running, and add ~2 - 8% with Chrome on top of that. Add in ~5 - 10% with Steam running in the background on top of that too.

Forgot to mention this is with GameBooster enabled.

It won't be that much better bro. Just check craigslist or simply wait a tad bit longer.

If you buy this computer then you'll need a new one next year. It will probably cost more to maintain the buying a new one altogether.

Since when is a 2.8GHz dual core not that much better than a 2.0GHz single core?

I thought it would be a ton better.

You would be surprised. A 2.2ghz tri-core would be better. Unfortunately the Pentium dual-core are towards the lowest end of the spectrum. You would be much, much better off going with a quad-core or a tri-core. They actually aren't that expensive.

30fps isn't even considered playable. You can trust craigslist if you aren't anti-social and mentally handicapped. You will actually have to talk to the person! Maybe when you talk to them you could say something like "Hey, can you show me the computer while it's running?" or "Is there some kind of warranty you could give me if something goes wrong?". It's not that hard...

I run WoW on ultra settings at 15FPS.. It doesnt lag or anything. its 100% playable

No, I'm afraid it isn't. You may be confused with 150fps or something. 15fps is absolutely horrid.

Well of course it would be. :s

I don't care. I just want to get rid of this one I have now.

budget.

I can play Audiosurf just fine at 15FPS after playing 15 minutes at ~40.

audiosurf is completely different than playing a first person game. I'm just trying to inform you that doing this isn't worth it. You are simply better off saving your money or buying a used computer. No matter how bad you want to get rid of the one you have this new one won't be that much better. And yes, there are quad core budget processors.

Why is it so hard for you to not check your local listings.

Righteous every post you make you're making yourself sound like a bigger and bigger douche bag. Why do you find it necessary to post in every comment on thiss thread of yours that you can get a used computer. Obviously he doesn't want that, he wants a new one. He wants a computer that's an upgrade, not everybody can afford to put together a high-end rig like some of us any time of the day. He's probably planning on upgrading his rig as he goes, that's what I did, and now I gurantee its better than 90% of the computers here. It took me a year to upgrade to its current state, and, it started off as a small quadcore 2gig ddr3 8800gtx 512mb rig. Now its a 4 core i7 oc'd at 4.0ghz, dual 450gtx pros, 10gig ddr3, liquid cooled, etc. It took forever to get there but it did. Just let the kid have his fun and work as he pleases, let him be happy god damnit.
