Author Topic: Salvage [Gametype option idea]  (Read 3080 times)

►This add-on would show up as a check box in the create mini-game window. It can only be used if the brick selection menu is disabled during the mini-game.

The basic concept of Salvage is to allow players to pick up and relocate bricks.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
• Hit a brick about 10 times and voila, that brick is now in your brick inventory.

• Base-plates on the ground, and large cubes can NOT be salvaged. This gives the host control of the play area.

• Plant a brick you salvaged and it will still have all of its previous lights, emitters, items, and maybe events. The brick will, of course, be removed from your inventory after planting, and would have to be re-salvaged to be moved.

• Wrenching a brick will repair it.

• If a player dies with an inventory full of bricks, those bricks will re-appear in their previous location. (or maybe they all plant themselves on top of each other at the player's death site)
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

So imagine, you setup a TDM mini-game with Salvage enabled and load up the afghan build. When you start it, both teams scramble to take apart all the middle-eastern buildings, and use those same bricks to fortify their bases. Players only have access to the bricks that are part of the mini-game, allowing the host to have a set brick amount throughout the server. All the host has to do is provide the materials.

Oh hell yeah

 My support is yours

Interesting. I'd like to see this made, though, this seems very similar to Minecraft.

But more a blockland feeling.
Because the bricks aren't always the same.

Also, it would be hard to let it have the exact same emitter, light and event as you may have multiple of the same type of brick but with different settings.

What happens if you salvage a brick that is holding up other bricks? Do you get those bricks, or do they hover in the air, or do they fall down and not come back?

If you can't hammer it in normal mode, you can't hammer it in salvage.

It should defiantly be a crowbar model for the tool.

No it would not. Look at the Duplicator for example: it works fine copying brick properties.
I can host in awhile to work on making this. Sounds like a neat and easily doable concept.

This would be very fun. And if done correctly (host wise) it would be amazing.

Iwas there, was fun.
But xang get hatin.

I was just now thinking, about how this would add quite a lot to the feeling of post-apocalyptic-survival, when combined with the zombie mods.

If Truce can pull this off it would be pretty damn awesome in my book.
