Author Topic: What is inviting yourself over?  (Read 1238 times)

My sister's friend who literally shows up at our door, and says "CAN I COME IN?" and walks in (with permission to do so) says that's not inviting herself. She says that inviting herself is when you literally walk in and stay.

which one is it? I think it's showing up at a door and saying "CAN I COME IN?" with no one telling her to come over inviting herself, plus her point of view.

I'm sure it's her view.

I'm sure it's her view.

what about mine?

No one invited her over, she just shows up the door and asks for permition.

That's not really inviting yourself over; that's just asking for permission to stay.

Inviting is when you ask someone over, they didn't tell her to come.

Sister's friend is a girl.

Obviously the answer is to stick it up her pooper.

She's trying to say she invited herself

inviting yourself in is barging in to someones house and staying there
like once my friend came to my house and barged through my loving door with my grandmas permission
i was startled
that jerk of a girl :|

It's called visiting.

If you invited yourself, that would mean it was generally a private event of some sort, otherwise an invitation wouldn't be necessary.

I invite myself to your house via this rock at midnight.

So, basically, it's only really inviting yourself over if you just barge in without asking at all, or if you join a private family event without being asked, such as a birthday party or a sleepover.

I'm just picking this up from what has been said, I'm socially crippled so I don't understand much of this

I call on my friends and ask to come in all the time, it's not wierd
However there was this one dude who said to me at school "I'll come round your house in a bit" not "Can I come round your house in a bit" which I thought was inviting himself in.

2 years ago, my little brother's friend just walked in through our garage drinking one of our sodas without permission.
