Is the Playstation 3 a good system?

So here's the rundown, chums. I don't want to pay for Xbox Live and I don't have the cash to build my own gaming rig. I'm thinking of using the money I get on Christmas to buy a PS3.

I pretty much want to play Call of Duty:Black ops, Rayman 1 & 2, LBP, and any other games that interest me.

But before I even think of asking for one of these, I want to know if there's any other worthwhile games for the system (seeing as a 4 game collection's real shabby). I got the PSP last year and the selection of games for that system is severely lacking (pretty much downgrades of PS3 games and movie games >:I) and I don't want to waste 299$ on a console with a lacking selection of games.

Also, don't just spout "ps3 has no games" because that doesn't help me at all, really.

If you don't want to/can't pay for Xbox Live, then yes, go for the PS3, and i would recommend getting a used one.

I found a used 80Gb PS3 for $237, only difference was that it was the older model, and it had a few scratches on the outside, other than that it runs perfectly, and i have had absolutely no problems with it.

If you don't wanna pay for Live, then get it. Good graphics, Blu-Ray, games, all that stuff. Be aware though that even though PSN is free, the download speed is very slow compared to Live. IMO Live is worth 5 bucks a month.

PS3 has great graphics if you have an hdtv but if you dont then dont get it,xbox is good because it has more common games that you hear about on the computer,wii is just fun to play with friends/brothers/cousins name it all have pros and cons.
