[Xbox] does anybody else see no point in the "rep" system?

so I looked at my xbox rep and noticed 42% avoided me, and 60% of that 42% marked me as "unsporting".

I propose a change in the system, "unsporting" should read "destroyed me at CoD" because that's why they're mad. rep doesn't even do anything, so really they're butthurt *and* wasting time marking me as unsporting. boohoo

You start with 2.5 stars.

ANY kind of rating (avoid or prefer) will increase this rating, and it will never drop.

personally I've never seen anyone below the default.. broken indeed. everyone is either default or 5 stars.

The day I got xbox and xbox live (first day it came out, mind you) I got "avoided" because I destroyed people at a game, like said in OP, and So now as more and more people did that, 79% avoid me as "unsupporting". I have no "Trash Talk" or any of that other option either, only unsupporting because that's all butthurt people can do. Also, I have never preferred someone or avoided them ever.

the point is not to "be bitching about it", the point is it's broken and I'd like to hear what people think of it. I'm sorry if you think I'm butthurt but that's just not the case. If something is broken I'd like it fixed. Obviously this will not happen from posting such things here, however a discussion about it won't hurt anybody.

The system isn't broken, that's where you're wrong. The system works fine, it's the people that are "broken". You can't put a lie detector on the loving system, people are almost guaranteed to lie on it just to lower someone's rep because it's cathartic.

Essentially, he is. His complaint was not thought out well and is the equivalent of saying "THIS GAME CHEATS".

if what I'm talking about (stars) have nothing to do with what you're talking about (preferring/avoiding players and the percentages) explain why stars have the word "Rep" next to them?



wait wait by "system" do you mean the idea of players preferring/avoiding or the actual coding behind it? I'm talking about the fact that when you mark somebody as unsporting, it does nothing to their stars. They're supposed to be linked. That's what I'm saying is broken.

They are linked and it does affect the stars.

If you have a vote of 0 on both sides, one vote won't set the stars to 5 or 0, it's on a curve or something. It takes an accumulation of a lot of negative votes to lower the stars.
