literally, I connect the power supply and it says battery mode, even though AC mode flashes for half a second

The little tiny prongs that supply the power are bent or fried.

You need a new cable.

mine does that when the wire is bent at a 90+ degree angle against my bed.

Perhaps that is the issue?

My old laptop did that until it was completely unusable. I got a new cord and it didn't help anything. Do you move around the cord a lot or put a lot of pressure on it? If so, you may have broken the connection on the inside.
