I'd like to know, no matter how stupid my question is.
Did you get this from a person or did you find this out yourself, and how?
I go to church with my friends (I try to keep an open mind). I went yesterday with a bunch of friends who are aprt of a youth group at the church. One of my friend's dad drives us. He's a reformed hippy, apparently a very religious guy.
Rachael started telling him about my views on religion. He called me to the front of the van, and then we started a conversation about religion.
"You can't have an opinion on religion, you're either right or wrong. I've read the books, I know Christianity isn't wrong, I have my faith in it. All those other 'sub-religions,' Mormonism, the Jehovas, etc. are just a bunch of lies."
The conversation somehow got to politics (don't ask me how, I wasn't really listening).
"Obama was sent from hell to form a global government under the UN. If you don't have the mark of the devil somewhere on your body, you are going to be persecuted; you won't be able to buy things, houses, cars, your everyday school lunch, what ever."
He then tried to persuade me to go a Christian website and read their articles about science. The church uses manipulation to scare you into believing. Really, why do you believe in God? To avoid being 'damned' to hell, right?
Not to mention all that bullstuff about the Cardinals in the Catholic church raping little boys, and then having the Pope cover their asses for them.
Yet there are some Athiests who love whoring for attention with gigantic loving billboards making deliberate attacks against other religons, usually against Christianity.
On the Authoritarian side of things, that should be classified as a hate crime (Discriminating against other individuals based on religon, ethnicity, etc...).
No, it shouldn't. Religion shouldn't be displayed in public schools, public in general, or in government. Giving the government the power to do anything with religion is wrong. It gives the idea that the government is backing a specific religion.
