Yes let us all not believe in a god who cares about us, and/or watches over us. What a wonderfull and depressing thought Yuki. (not trying to bash on atheists, or on anyone really)
What the hell? Is your life really so empty without a god? A god that allows war and famine and death and destruction, a god that allows disease to ravage, and to allow the evil to live and the good to die? The god that 'watches over' my mother as she slowly
dies from cancer. I have to stand by as she sleeps, the treatments sapping her energy, on her
loving birthday no-less, and you have the audacity to tell me
god cares?forget you. If god exists, it sure as loving hell doesn't give a rats ass about you, or me, or any human being. If god exists, I refuse to worship such a narcissistic, arrogant, petty, douchebag of a "supreme being".
But I still manage to find more beauty in life than you ever will:
Religion smears and distorts and contorts and obscures the natural beauty of science and progression. Suddenly, life becomes so much more meaningful and deep when you realize that you exist because of the single most chaotic event - a supernova. The material that comprises your skin and bones and teeth and hair, all atoms forged in the fires of an explosion greater than a billion atomic bombs.
It's pretty easy to say "god loves everyone and watches over and protects us" when it's not your mother in the hospital bed.
