You can take any, but yeah, Engineering is best for Cruisers.

The Crusier doesn't fit my style, it's too slow and takes forever to turn. Plus, it didn't help in my Fleet PvP battle.

I did. I purched an Escort after the PvP and I like it a lot more, even though I'm an Engineer.

it doesn't matter what class you are, if it fits your playstyle, use it.

Technically you could use any ship for any class as your character has no means of buffing your ship. It's all how you allocate your Bridge Officers. I prefer Engineering with cruisers as they are the most robust class and can adapt to a good variety of things.

It's in the same window where you equip your ship or assign skill points. At the top, there will be a tab that says Assignments. That will allow you to assign away team members and your primary bridge crew.

WoW lets you when you change factions, but you need to pay to do that.
