Author Topic: Is this a good graphics card?  (Read 1842 times)

I have been wandering why Minecraft lags alot, I have been told is my graphics card.
I have a AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200.
Is this good?

Wow, just like the stupidity in this post!

Your video card is pretty bad though, but not because it's ATI.

Is there a good graphics card that I can buy in the US?

Yes.

You cannot really upgrade a laptop's graphics card. The 5970 is a  desktop card, anyways.

Minecraft's a visually simple game, I'm not so sure how a decrease in performance could be caused by a graphics card.
Unless it's a terrible graphics card.
Or if Minecraft is more complex than it looks.

What processor do you have?

AMD Athlon(tm) II Dual-Core M300 (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz

Now, to wait for someone to tell you how good that is or how much it sucks.
Because I have no idea.

Yea, I just searched to see how you could upgrade or replace your graphics card for a laptop, and its not easy. Its also a risk of damaging your system?

Lol Radeon. Anyways it's a decent card. You'll be able to play Source Engine games just find, maybe not on max settings but pretty decently at least. Don't expect to play games like Just Cause 2 or Metro 2033 though. I'd recommend getting a Radeon 5650 or a Nvidia 460GTX just so you don't have to upgrade for the next 5-10 years.

While we're asking questions about changing stuff, how does an "integrated" graphics card differ from a others?
