Author Topic: How do you make addons?  (Read 6573 times)

If you are on a mac, you have to use YemuZip to make proper .zip files(set YemuZip to "PC Compatible").

What are you stupid? Just right click and compress. At least, that's all I do, and it makes .zip files just fine.

I mean the Create Add-On button. It should be on the right hand side of your screen.
Stop using the Blockland Manager that Tyler66 made to make add-ons.

Out, this is not true.
What the forget are you stuffting about

If you don't know how to make addons, it is possible that you can still learn to.

Ok now how do I make addons.

What kind of addon? Map? Vehicle? Weapon? Because putting an .mis file in a Vehicle_xxx.zip is useless.
Start with the easiest: decals/faces/prints, then go up the ladder step by step.

It is late. Ill do MS.Paint tomorrow unless anyone else wants to do it.

Are you wondering how to make a Decal (shirt) or face? Well, here it goes:

Using GIMP:
DECAL:

1. File -> New
2. Look for "Image size" and make both values 256x256 and then click "okay"
3. Draw your face. EXAMPLE:This is NOT a good face. It is an example and you should spend MUCH more time on faces then this.
4. Make your picture transparent. Do this by:
  a. Make sure your layers are flattened. (save as a .png)
  b. Right click (ctrl. click on a mac laptop) on your main layer
  c. use the magic wand or the color picker, and select all of your white or whatever background color you have.
  d. Use the fill bucket, with fill transparency on, and Fill all selection on.
5. Minimize GIMP
6. Go to "My Computer" Or "Macintosh HD" and double click on it.
7. Go to "Desktop" and Right Click. A menu should appear and you select New -> Folder.
8. Name this folder Face_Facename. It is VITAL that the First "Face" is in there.
9. Now save your work into this folder by clicking:
  a. "File" (in the GIMP window)
  b. "Save As"
  c. Name your face.
  d. go to the VERY bottom and you will see "> Select File Type (by extension)
  e. Click on that and scroll down until you see .png (it is in alphabetical order.)
  f. Select it and click "Save"
10. Go out of GIMP and go to your folder that you named "Face_Facename" and you should see your face (as a .png) saved into it. Now right click INSIDE of the folder (not on any icons) and select "New Folder" and name it Thumbs.
11. Right Click your face (the actual picture file) and select "copy"
12. Go back into "Thumbs" and right click again. This time though, choose "Paste". Your face now should also be in thumbs as well as in "Face_Facename".
13. Now Right Click "Face_Facename" (This is our first folder remember) and select "Compress". This will turn it into a .zip file.
14. Congratulations! If you did this correctly, you can drag it to: Applications -> Blockland -> addons -> Drop you face's .Zip file into here. Now in-game it should work.

Are you using GIMP? If anything isn't working, let me know.

Also, I can't get it to work on MS. paint right now. Could someone else post a tutorial?

Out, this is not true.

I would suggest looking at scripts such as the default gun and just see how they work and when you feel confident about understanding them, try it out. That's what I did and I am on my way to scripting a working weapon.

I also found playertypes the easiest to script so I would suggest working with them. REMEMBER: do not edit the original file. Always make a new one.

Also if you ARE on a Mac computer (which you probably aren't) I can give you help on how to turn text edit files into .cs files and .txt files.
That's what Badspot himself wrote.
And I mean, do you seriously think OP is going to be making any decent add-ons anytime soon?
It's been almost a month and he still seems to have no clue what to do.

Really?

Maybe he's a slow learner like me? I'm still having trouble with Torque scripting BASICS after three months of almost constant studying.

YemuZip?
I have nothing that helps me make it a .zip just rightclick the two files (Apple click) and right click and select "Compress" it works fine.
No. Mac rightclick compression does not work with Blockland.

EXAMPLE:This is NOT a good face.
at least have a better example face...
like this one! :D
