Author Topic: Building new computer :D! need advice.  (Read 523 times)

Ohai, so as some of you can remember my laptop died, well I went to the store with my old man last night to look at parts, well one of my buddies who worked there was on shift, so he was helping me out a bit. Well we looked at barebone kits, and I think I found my soul mate of a computer :o

It is a 6 core amd processor
8gig ddr3 ram
Liquid cooling
lovey case
Some other stuff.

And guess what? The kit costs 800$

Its only missing a gpu and a hdd. So, I can get a 250gig or somethin hdd for like 30$ and then a good ati card (forget nvidia *shades*) probably the 5750 or so.

:o

This is the actual rig (gonna attempt link posting on my phone)

It def will. For the time being I'm just gonna put 1 card in, but then eventually upgrade to a dual card build. :D

Best part is that its gonna be quiter than a whisper c:

Same here. I'm going to crossfire 460GTX's once the price drops down. But why a six core? Quad cores usually benchmark higher than six cores when it comes to games. Unless you plan on running programs that use video encoding, adobe programs, video editors, etc.

Monocle, do you multi-task like a motherforgeter?

Well;
1. It'll boost my e-peen among my friends being able to say I have a 6 core processor.
2. Its just an added bonus to the build, for that price and for what I'm getting I'm totally happy with that.
3. I'm going to be using a lot of adobe products, and I'm going to be doing a lot of 3d rendering.

Yes. Why do you ask?

Ah I see. Well have fun. :P

I got a lovey quad core AMD 3.5ghz for Christmas. Can't build my computer until it's actually Christmas though. :C

Its cool though, you can OC it to 4.5ghz :D

Actually 4.2 ghz but I don't plan to. Supposedly shortens your cpu's lifespan.

I was talking about mine. I wouldn't OC yours to 4.2, maybe to 3.8, or 4.0 buuuttt.... :/ that'd be really pulling it close. If you don't have proper cooling it'll shorten the cpus lifespan. But then again, I don't really know much about cpus.

Bumpppp :o

Anyone reccomend a gpu/tips on what else to get?
