Ok, the lag ended a few minutes ago. Support from my host on the weekends is very lousy so I may some time before I get an explanation.

By the way, I found this list of nearby IPs to my server: http://whois.cb3rob.net/ip/69/64/43/
It may be helpful to diagnose the problem, for example one can see that the problem is with ~16 servers.

Nice brown townysis, same subnet doesn't even mean same country, I guess your provider is stuff though.

I'm sure that range of ~16 servers just happened to have nearby IPs and all be down at the same time!
