This makes me think about everything. What if there is some other 'Power' or 'signal' or what ever the forget we don't know about. Once we discover it we may understand the universe that much more. Think about electro magnetic waves. What was the world like before we discovered them? How did we discover them? I'm sure we are going to stumble across something new and invisible to us (A new unlimited fuel source? Ways of seeing/contacting/travelling across the unvierse instantly?) and it will change everything. Again.

True but they need to be able to hold tools somehow, so in some way they might not be that different.

 Another thing is, intelligent life is so rare that it will be extremely difficult to find any. Unless there is some civilization just starting to build pyramids or cubes, or already starting to bend matter and start companies where they cell stars to new solar systems.

 Most likely thing is that we will find a planet that had life, or is about to.

I doubt there is "sophisticated" or even intelligent life beyond earth. Call me narrow minded but if there was I think they would have made contact with us. I just hate how everyone thinks that when we make extra terrestrial contact they'll be super beings far superior compared to us.

If they are 284  billion light years away that might be hard. The chance of anything of importance being relatively close to us is a tiny bacteria.  Assuming they exist now and not 50 million years ago or 50 million years into the future. The time humans have existed is very very short.
