Author Topic: The Biggest Danger in Sandbox-Style Driving Games  (Read 901 times)

Such as GTA, DRIV3R, any others that you can think of, that have 3d curbs, instead of curb textures.

That's right. The Curb is the most dangerous object ever featured in any of these games. Several times in GTA IV I've died because of hitting the Curb the wrong way. Either from a jump or just hitting wrong with a bike. In DRIV3R it was a certain deathtrap if your car was gliding of the pavement from a jump. Or if you are going excessivly fast. Rendering you disabled for the cops, and not being able to drive your already damaged sedan.

I hate the Curb.

DRIV3R? Oh that brings me back

Technique was mastered in Midtown Madness 4 (aka the funnest driving game ever) and Midnight Club II.

DRIV3R? Oh that brings me back
I play it every once in a while on my PS2.

It's still fun. Plus the cops are hard to lose over time.

i almost flipped over on a corner curb in mafia 2 just now

SEE?

I should try and see if the curb is that dangerous irl.

I've never had any problems with a curb in any driving game where they are 3D.

Driv3r, Parallel Lines, GTA4, etc.

Then stop driving like a civilian grandma.

Then stop driving like a civilian grandma.
bitch, i drive like a man

I don't recall curbs being that much of a problem

FUn fact: In DRIV3R, the cars in Istanbul are "lighter", so grab infinite mass and hilarity ensue.
