Okay guys, just here me out, please read this post and don't just skip the entire thing and say "ROBLOX SUX LUUL IM SO CUUL" or some stupid sh!t like that.

Now, I will say what is bad about the game, and what probably makes everyone hate it. The people on it. Basically what people make out of the game, the admins/mods included. They've turned it into a game oriented towards kids using censorship and overly strict rules as if to be scared that they will lose competition. The customers through their behavior and underdeveloped "internet skills." I reward the few smart Robloxians resilient enough to stand the harsh wave of immaturity that is Roblox, and will hopefully make it a better game in the future.

Roblox intends to be for all audiences, but this would mean being safe for kids too. All they want is money, and this is actually a good tactic to target kids, because when a child is whining, you feel more compelled to give what he/she wants, making a higher likelihood of purchase.

The prices for full features on the game are...$0. Yep. To access everything in the Roblox game, it's $0. To access everything on the website, however, it's much more costly, which is how Roblox gets their money. And that is all they want, to commit highway robbery on the parents on whining children.

I've said all that, but I still believe Roblox is a very good game. It's an accurate lego-like physics environment - sure the cars are a bit jittery, but that's what you get when you attach solid spheres to a brick-shaped chassis with hinges. It makes sense.

The building isn't all that bad either. You're able to resize bricks, many interesting properties to screw with, and it's limitless to what you can create.

Tools. The tools system is great, because you can hold up to any amount of items that you want. You may not be able to select them all, but holding them is a good advantages in certain cases, such as when you have an inventory of grenades that remove themselves from your pack once you throw them.

The camera isn't the best in the world, but I think it was meant for simplicity. It's more point-and-click oriented than it is FPS. The camera allows you to see around in all angles. Beside, in front of, and behind you, while you're still able to walk in the same direction. It may be a bit cheap, but there is also first person, which can be forced upon the player via script. It is a tad glitchy but I'm hoping for an improvement in the future.

There are so many objects in Roblox that have many interesting properties, such as adding velocity or weight to a brick, or making it a conveyor, making it fly towards you, etc. It's like another list of properties able to be screwed with - as if there wasn't enough enjoyment in experimentation.

The scripting system took me so little time to learn, and an extensive wiki helped too. Because it's targeted at kids, they really don't have the patience to learn how to create the most awesome stuff that they could be creating. If it were targeted towards an older audience, there would be better places due to a majority of the community now being able to use the language to it's full extent. Lua is a very simple programming language, and I applaud them for making such a good choice.

In conclusion, the Roblox engine is such an excellent tool for creation, it's just the way that it's been used and abused that people believe it to suck so badly, like I once had. And I still believe in this a little bit, but I'm just hoping for a better future for the blocky haven.

That is all.

Also guys, please don't compare this game to Blockland. This thread is about Roblox.

roblox's engine is not good because it crashes every 2 minutes

roblox's engine is not good because it crashes every 2 minutes
you're kidding right

The only time I can get anything close to having fun in Roblox is in a LAN party or playing it with voice chat with someone else playing it.

Roblox is boring. Blockland is a lot better

Crap computer is crap.

I'm trying to focus on Roblox here, please leave Blockland out of the question.

itt: stating the already stated
seriously. many people have already said what OP said.
we get the point.

The company is greedy, the community is immature, and there is way to much censorship.
The game itself is decent enough though, not that I still play.

Why? they get compared all the time anyways.

Is it wrong to express one's feelings?

They shouldn't be.

it's not that it's wrong
it's that we've heard it like, a million times.

Roblox just looks like a halfassed game imo.

Deal with it. As long as the game has some potential, these views are gonna pop up.

And I assume you've played it? This is exactly my point. It's what people have made from the engine that makes it look bad. You've gotta look into the engine itself to realize that it could be something much greater than it is now. I'm actually thinking about getting it so I can play around in the Roblox Studio, straying away from Multiplayer.

We're not talking about the engine, we're talking about the game. The game sucks.

I see the game as anything that's not tied to the website, and I believe multiplayer is part of this definition. Multiplayer may suck, but there are quite a few good places out there today made by those resilient Robloxians I mentioned. Take out multiplayer and you've still got an awesome sandbox. The game itself is pretty decent. The website is just complete balls, however. The website shouldn't even have anything to do with the game.
