Great age to have a child.
You wont be 60 with teenage children.
If I go over 35 and don't have childrens, I'm not even going to bother trying to have them. I hate the thought of spending my elder days as a loving father, and being dead by the time i have a first grandchild.
That's what i tell people when they ask why i have a son while being relatively young. :o

It's been that way in my dads side of the family for five or six generations by now, so hopefully I have his genetics.

My dad was 30 when I was born, and got married at 23/24.

Disregard, she was trying to test me to make sure I wasn't going to be a deadbeat daddy.

I agree with Otis, what the forget. God damn women, shes going to have your child, are you sure the relationship is mature enough to handle it if she's still testing you?

In her defense, at the moment I don't exactly have a job that is fit to support a kid and she's scared that I will be a deadbeat dad and she wanted to know if I would be able to step up and do what I need to do as a man to take care of my kid. She's only trying to protect the interest as far as the child is involved. I can't blame her at all. Granted, she could have gone about it in a totally different way, but she felt that shock therapy was the best option.

Congratulations. I am a father myself and its certainly a unique feeling, for me it is very humbling and almost a kick in the face how human I am. I wish you the best of luck.

I find that quite disturbing. Having kids at x-19 seems just...

I can't find the word for it. But I actually doubt you have a kid.

It wasn't planned and I'm not here to prove my fatherhood as it has very little relevance to topic, so that's all I will say on that behalf. There's a picture of her in Post your Pictures thread if you're really curious.

It's a rather archaic view of things on her part, I personally would much rather have a frank discussion about such a thing. I can understand the appeal and the extreme results that 'shock therapy' would have but when you're dealing with children you have to be more sensitive.

Both terrible names :|
Don't parents usually pass on last names?

If you have a daughter, you need a son so he can protect her in school. :P
