I personally thought you can't even have style into you get realism down.

Yeah of course like Pablo Picasso is a great example of that shifting from realism to this surreal abstract art. I kinda like it the other way in which as long as you have an idea of how it'd look in the realism way and takes that into account as you create a form then you can have your own kind of style.

But since he is one of the greatest officers the empire has ever seen they hire him as a privateer to help the war efforts, although the nobles and generals discriminate against him

Lineart turned out outrageously good, I actually did a rough this time and then set up a quick a lazy tracing station at my desk using my lamp and the glass from an old painting of mine. I'll probably post it at some point, but stitching legal size paper is no fun.
