Somebody wanna link me a tut on how to effectively use paint tool SAI? Its so weird.

Well I don't know any tutorials but what I do is make a sketch layer in a fairly light color on white (generally a light grey and in the water color tool don't judge me) and after that's done hop up a layer using the lineart layer, then trace out all of the lines from the sketch layer. After that I start adjusting brush weights and for coloring I found some kind of tutorial but I forgot where it was. It basically went like this.
You take the lineart layers and use the magic wand tool to select everything inside where you want to color, then make a new layer, and go slightly into the lines (mind you, not out of them. might wanna use thick lines or zoom in pretty tight.) then go like paintcan that stuff. For the next layer which is on the outside (ie: hair) you could go with the same technique, but if you have a bunch of lines (like you would in hair) it's much better to just make a new layer below the first one, and just GO WAY OUTSIDE THE LINES UNLEASH THE PRIMAL COLORING ANIMAL INSIDE YOU and then use the magic wand tool again, this time on the same layer (if that doesn't work use the lineart layer) and erase that stuff. Then use the eraser tool and get rid of the excess.

I never understood the point of adding a colored background before starting your drawing. I've always started plain white background, sketched out the forms/shapes/whatever with a custom brush, the detailed it in with the pen. Color is the last thing I do.

Personally I use it to set up a basic tone guideline for the entire figure, or as a base colour to then colour on top of if I'm drawing something that's mostly the same colour.

1. call lugnut
2. pay loads of money
3. ask for game

I do that when I'm painting something of a pale colour, that way I can see where it doesn't follow the shape and clean it up.

Also, a question related to SAI. Is pressure sensitivity automatically on or do i have to put it on. It's not working for me.

What tablet do you have? I found it flat out refused to work on my old cheap-ass tablet but it works fine and was on automatically for my new Bamboo.

Also I finished Dishonored so here's a not nearly finished painting. I did while listening to the awesome credits song on loop for the entire fifteen minutes.

Very different from my usual style.

as long as your tablet can sense different pressures (which most do) then yes it does

edit: oh stuff i just realized i double posted i'm sorry
