doesn't that go into the OC megathread

no because
bushido's dillema is p much the exact reason why i dont have an oc yet

i have a look for him ^, a basic idea, but he's not really that deep of a character
also i cant think of any non stupid sounding name so there's that

this'll probably sound sorta dumb but here we go

for my robot oc whose design i showed on that one page i was thinking of a story along the rough lines of:

somewhere in the unspecified future, in a communist regime of some sorts, a line of swift, agile fighting robots is the military standard
this particular one was assigned into a security group guarding a research team which is conducting some secret black-mesa like experiment
the experiment goes to stuff and the robot dude here, among others, is zapped into a random time period, him in particular ending up in our times, crashing through a gate barrier and having his gun just flung into a nearby river
his Unknown Area Survival and Situational Preservation Protocols activate, which basically consist of "survive, don't get captured, try not to forget around with stuff"
he picks up the gate barrier and his knife from the ground, skadoodles the forget out into the wilderness nearby, whips up a makeshift spear and tries he best to survive without getting located, looking for a way back to the future
He's a robot, why does he need to find a way back into the future? Can't he just wait time out until he gets back?

also is he sapient

like you could probably have an oc who is technically not sapient and just has a lot of pre-programmed provisions for every situation but it also seems strange that a character has no actual character to speak of

i tried to draw a sanic but i gave up

okay this i don't have an answer to yet

he's like one of those ss13 ai's / cyborgs: sapient, but with a few basic directives to follow

he runs on a fuel that wont be invented until his birth, so he has to either find a way to travel to the future or essentially starve to death

so... like the Terminator?
because if I recall correctly the Terminator had to go back into the future after killing whotheforgetever in the past
or I may be making that up

Idk if I should post it here but w/e

Here's a picture of a fellow forumer that I drew.

And why yes, that is in fact Dank Green as the background colour.

he runs on a fuel that wont be invented until his birth, so he has to either find a way to travel to the future or essentially starve to death
yeah i guess that works
i like the idea of him trying to get back better than waiting it out, because the former is more exciting and more likely to get him into trouble while the latter just involves minor scavenging and not really that much more

then again the first option is a bit hard to follow; after all, if you're a stranded robot from the future, where are you gonna look for time travel? its not a desolate world you can just trek in its search, this aint samurai forgetin jack - no, this is a bustling world of today, and time travel is nothing more than a fancy sounding myth
i mean unlike in video games, if you went out today in search of time travel, there'd be no creepy dude in that run-down house in the back of the town that has a lead you can follow - furthermore, being a fancy robot from the future, you can't just go around the town center asking people where you can find someone who knows time stuff

Meanwhile I'm changing my backstory up to a more medieval fantasy theme
I dont know why I didnt think of that idea before, I only realized it was a good idea when zay pointed it out.

Idea: The blueprint to a wormhole generator is secretly spread throughout his AI code. He has to find a computer scientist from today smart enough to extract it while the powers-at-be search for him. Constantly robot flash-backs give him brief flickers of the "time machine" itself, etc etc, more cliches.

Name should totally be something mass produced sounding but that can obviously morph to a more familiar name.

this sounds like a good idea, though a few modifications would adapt him a bit better to more than one context: instead of trying to get a scientist that can build the Thing by the specs in his head, he's slowly getting 'flashbacks' of the scientists assembling and documenting the Thing while he patrols, gathering parts and building it himself

also for the name, yeah, i was thinking something like that might work
perhaps Hemmy / HM-2051 / High Mobility class
