i mostly just dislike magic as a thing oc's have in general because more often than not it's a get-out-of-jail-free wildcard. oh look he can shoot ice crystals. oh look he's in a situation where ice crystals won't help him. what will he do??? he proves that his magic also lets him do another thing!! hot damn.

flats magic is almost entirely shield/defensive based, so as long as you can push out constant streams of powerful attacks, hes pret much screwed

or if you use light based magic, that stuff just goes straight through his magic.
