Author Topic: Religion - Real or Bullstuff?  (Read 3930 times)

These threads are starting to get boring when they aren't made for a different reason.

I don't care for it, but I'm not going to run around calling it bullstuff.

This thread is stupid.Just cause someone has a god and you dont doesnt mean you go around mocking them for their belief.People loved the greeks and they had crapload of gods.

Religion is garbage. I personally believe that religion has no place in a peaceful society and is truly not a force of good anywhere in the world. It promotes ignorance, arrogance, and intolerance.

It promotes ignorance, arrogance, and intolerance.

Not all religions are like this, even ones I don't believe in. Now, not to be mean, but that is a very general statement.

Now, as a Christian, I don't go around thinking "OH HURR I'M SO MUCH BETTER THAN YOU BECAUSE I DO GOOD STUFF AND YOU SIN", my perception sees that as the "arrogance" that you mentioned. I cannot however excuse anyone else that does this, because true Christians are supposed to be humble and have to understand that doing a whole bunch of good stuff isn't the true requirement to be so called "saved".

For the intolerance, I personally believe people from the Westboro baptist church NEED to be loving commissioned into a mental asylum or shot, because they represent Christianity in a very bad way. I don't like the idea of being homoloveual but neither this though or my religion allows me to go around and be religionhead extremists like they are.

As for ignorance, yes, there are red-neck guys who have no loving idea about anything about how Christianity evolved and affected history and how many recent scientific discoveries discredit the validity of my belief in a Single Spiritual being creating humans as we are, but there is also evidence against these findings as well. The debate will continue on well after you and I are dead, but just think, can you understand a so called infinite being (God) in a limited world?

In my opinion, society needs to be more secular but also tolerant of all beliefs except the ones that force you to kill people, and we should all be tolerant of each other until the end of the world and see who is right then.

I don't actually "hate" religious people, but this comic has a lot of good points.

Or we can all believe what we want to believe?
There's pretty much no evidence that anyone's religion  is correct or whether there is no god. So I say everybody believes what they want.

Though I do hate Christians who try to convert people by telling people if they don't believe in god they go to hell. That really pisses me off.

I don;t have enough energy to address all of the points in the first pic, but Omnipotence "Allows a deity to do whatever it wishes" God can just watch us with our lives down on earth and barely do anything at all, let alone stop all of the evil in the world.

you see, religious people discriminate agaisnt others. how many times have you seen christians making fun of gays, atheists, muslims, etc etc in your school? because i see it all the time in mine

The people here supporting their religion are actually just supporting their ethical beliefs or their culture, not the religion itself, which is fine.  In modern times, if you truly belive in the legends of how the earth was created and stories and explainations about what the moon is, you are stupid. Period.

also,

"I like your Christ, but I don't like your Christians" - Ghandi

so if most people of faith, dont even believe most of their own religion anymore. why cant they inspire themselves to be good people and live an ethical meaningful life? why do they still use that religion crap lol.

Everything you said falls to pieces when you consider that your own loving religious text promotes those traits.

because they're afraid of gods 'jugdement'

afterlife exists because people feared living short meaningless lives. and this idea only encourages them to live by a single dead end goal.

while thinking of the depressing "nothing happens when you die" idea, everyone would instead live for the future of mankind, actually seeing themselves as more importance as a whole.
