Author Topic: How well would a blockland server run from a 200 gig external?  (Read 619 times)

Title, anyways I have a external hanging around.

I have a 10 GB ext and BL runs faster on that than my 250 GB internal.

BL was made for portability/compact size.

fanks.

No it wasn't.

Secondly, Blockland performance hinges on the speed and availability of your RAM. Disk I/O plays a much smaller role and in any case having Blockland have to read/write to external storage is generally going to be slower than having it write to an internal HDD regardless of what ChuckTheArcher seems to think.

Headshot.

Since when was Blockland "designed" for portability? As far as I know the game was designed to be played regularly on any size HDD.

And how would something run faster on a USB external HDD then directly through SATA (or IDE)...?

To put it in short it would probably be better to run it on a regular internal HDD.

He is right.

A better processor, better RAM, and a better connection will improve your server's performance. The external drive will just slow it down when it needs to read/write, which isn't very often aside from startup and shutdown.

Thanks guys, closing up
