Author Topic: What parts should I get for a gaming PC?  (Read 1356 times)

I might be making a gaming computer in a few weeks but I have no clue what parts I should get. If I am going to make a gaming PC I probably wont be able to go over the budget of about 500-800 bucks. Can someone suggest a gaming PC build with that budget in mind that can run the newer games these days like Fallout 3/NV, Oblivon, TF2 etc?

You can probably get something decent for 800 bucks but you won't be running modern games above low settings. I mean a high-end video card alone can cost up to 250 dollars.

You should wait for Devil or Otis, they can usually find you the best deals.

Maybe I can figure something out when the time comes to actually start making it. Or something...

You should probably build your computer on newegg because I think they let you do that. You choose your parts and they build it for you then ship it over.

I wouldn't build a computer if you have no experience. Just the slightest of mistakes can forget up your motherboard.

I've been building computers for a while and even then I still ask my dad for help out of paranoia.

Back in my day these things were alot less expensive.

Back in what days? You're fourteen. :/

Unless you were building computers when you were two.

You could get a pretty good computer for 800

800 dollars to not be able to run anything over low?
Then you were talking about how 250 ones were better. Wut.

I recommend the Nvidia Geforce 9800GT, it is pretty good for a low-budget card, but outdated a little. It has served me well and I can run all the games I own on very high.

Link, I have the EVGA version, though.

Ahem.

high-end video card

Also an 800 dollar computer should run source games just fine but modern games like Just Cause 2 will barely run if not run at all.
