Author Topic: Some dummy just connected to my phone.  (Read 1281 times)

I won't bore you with details.
My phone can function as a wifi hotspot, but it requires the phone to authorize each connection to give said connection internet. Someones ipod just connected to my phone, which I'm using. I'm not about to authorize it.

Won't they be in for a surprise.

Has anything like this happened to you? Someone trying to do something, but you won't authorize them or whatever because you have no clue who the hell they are?
I realized, literally righ as I posted this that this was what you might call a blog post.

I have a visual. lol

Android phone?

If someone were to see your connection on their connection list, would it be obvious that it's a phone, or would it just appear as any run of the mill, wi-fi hotspot?

If it was clearly a phone, that would be really quite rude to try and connect to a strangers network, without even asking them.

Android phone?

Indeed. :o

ACTUAL SIZE :D

I've never thought about that. I wonder what it says. :o

EDIT: Just checked, you can change the name of the connection to whatever you want and set your password to anything. So I imagine it was something that wouldn't obviously state it's a phone if you changed the name.

It used to be named "Andaroid" but like I said, it was an ipod person who might not know much about android, or put two and two together, or just plain think I was some nut who was obsessed with Android phones.

Two posts ago I said I changed the name to see who I can entrap next. We have no further victims.
EDIT:

I don't care much for the droid, but its more like I don't care for verizon. But thats not what were discussing here. It says what yo uwant it to say.

Hide your SSID if you can.

Its almost better than setting a password.

I'm leaving the clinic now, out of the clinic..... into the world.

Hueston, We have connections incoming..

Copy that. Send them in.

Hueston... We have visual.

We do too. Damn nice veiw down here.

Its a Droid 2, actually. :P

Its a phenomenal phone. I paid for half and still haven't regretted it.

Regretted doesn't sound right but according to my phones suggested words (lol) its right...

you should have name the network clinic waiting room wifi or something like that.
