It would still be annoying. Chat messages are simple and more controlled, not to mention it's just overall better. And anywho, you'll have to mute a bunch of people at one point. If someone's just blaring music in the background, mute 'em? Then mute someone when their mother tells them to clean their room repeatedly? And ban the spammer, and ban the guy making a gratuitous excess of cusses? How are we to drama people? Will we have to record them, and have Badspot add a feature to the forums whereby you can add audio to a post? Do we have a chat recording ability so we are able to do so? We might not be able to hear them over other people. And how are we to censor it for the soccer-moms who are afraid their little darling child hearing someone say something inappropriate? Will their be a mic sent to you when you buy Blockland, will those who have it already have to drive to Badspot's house to get them? Will their be a Blockland approved mic, or just everyone buying their own? What happens when there are twenty or more players, all trying to get heard by screaming? Then there's the problem of team chat for deathmatches and voice commands and whatnot.

Tell me what voicechat would be like on this server:

The higher the playercount, the higher the level of insanity. Over fifty prepubescent forgets all screaming conveniently into your ear. Fantastic.

Even worse, if this server gets full:

Imagine when it lags. Instead of idiots typing "LLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!" You'll hear idiots screaming it.

Suppose there's an argument. Do you ban two people just debating worthless bullstuff, or do you mute them?

By no means is voice chat as perfect as you people make it out to be. Teamspeak is fine, but that's where it should end.

I have always, and I mean ALWAYS wondered why people ask this question. There is no logic behind it once you THINK a little bit with that, ya know, BRAIN YOU HAVE. Oh yeah, that's right. Apparently for some people, it's impossible to use.

Blockland doesn't need mics.

If you want to chat with people, go on skype. HOLY stuff, that's so simple! Whoa nelly!

What about a mic function that only works if you invite someone to chat with you, similar to how Home works on the PS3?

Otherwise, my friend and I just use Skype, but it's less convenient because in order to talk to other friends conveniently, we have to ask them to download a completely separate program, set it up, register, etc. Some kind of voice chat function built into Blockland would be much more convenient.

I actually thought Blockland already had a mic function because of the Block Wars video. Or were they just using a mod?

No. Get skype or some other thing like that and chat with your BL friends. No one wants to hear screaming noobs or stuff like that.

Everyone has been saying "But the screaming 8 year olds!".
But there is something called a mute button. Most games with voice chat have ute buttons so you can turn on and off certain players. Also, does it really have to be built straight into the game? Not really. It could be just a third party system. What he's getting at though is not everyone will download the third party program and can't communicate.

If it was kind of made into a mod that was user friendly and integrated into the game separately, more people may download and if you wish not to hear people over all there's an option not to hit a download button.

I'm up for it yet I doubt it will ever be put officially into Blockland.

There's a lot more to it that just muting, for example the whiny admins who gets pissed off if you mute voice chat.

The current engine does not support audio streaming. If it did, we would have had add-on implementation a long time ago.
