Author Topic: A mod that allows your dedi server to accept console commands through the IRC  (Read 775 times)

Basically, it allows you to input console commands through the IRC, but first you must tell it a password, which you can set with a pref. It would be useful when my dedi goes offline and I need to webcom_postserver(); it. I have eval, but can't use it when I can't connect to the server. Also, it would be useful for when I travel, because I can't run ~160 miles back to my house to put in a command. Don't say I should use remote access programs, because my dad won't let me install them.

Example of the message you would send:
Code: [Select]
<JamestheLeet> {console command} {password}You would have to do that every time, so no one can put console commands in it but you.

Optional:
If they don't put in the password:
Code: [Select]
<Name> You are not authorized to do thisIf they don't put a command or password:
Code: [Select]
<Name> This only accepts console commands
I could use this, and it would be very useful to have.

IRC requires use of a BL_ID, why not check that against the dedicated server's host's ID?

I don't think it does, actually.
Use a client, and it still works, you probably have an option checked that hides users that aren't in game.

But yes, checking the hosts id would be cool, but you couldn't use a client to do that, either.

I could easily go outside of blockland to like, mibbit or mirc and connect to the irc channel and change my name to almost anyone's name here when they are offline.
So yes, you'd need a password.

Or you could simply just remember the IP and port, and not break CentralChat's bot policy.

Who said this was going to be on #rtb or even hosted on centralchat.net? You can change channels in the in-game IRC client.
