though i find it odd that that's the only thing anyone's focusing on.
Holy crap, this sounds exactly like the tech they use in Mass Effect for their trans-galactic messaging using the hologram chat thingies (at least for private paired systems anyway, hence the entangled atoms).
Radio waves work perfectly fine anyway
Not when you're 20 lightyears away from earth and being attacked by pirates.
What's Earth going to do, send ships that will take 20 years to get there? (Probably much longer time than that (~200 years?) but whatever)

No stuff, where do you think the designers of Mass Effect got the idea?
Quantum Entanglement is a suggested method of communication that would allow crystal-clear instant messages between stars and space ships. This could establish reliable internet connection on a computer onboard a ship that is ~20ly away from Earth.
Okay, so lets assume we have 'warp-drives' (in the same sense that we have flying cars now, because if a bunch of loonies dream it up, it will be fact in 50 years)Why doesn't the ship that's under attack just loving run away?
Really? Even a quick glance at Wikipedia shows that there are many applications of quantum dots and related nanomaterials being actively researched.
