Author Topic: Rotate a brick  (Read 939 times)

A brick that can rotate in all directions and can face any angle, or direction. I thought of this because I was building a space ship and I noticed that I could use one of my bricks but it wouldnt rotate to the right angle. I believe this would also make the game more lifelike in many ways. Besides it's just an idea!

If Blockland wasn't strained to a grid system, it might be.

Yeah… wait what do you mean

bricks are conformed to a grid. that's why map makers are always struggling to/getting yelled at because they didn't make stuff align to the grid for proper building.
there's no changing that.

Another objection. Everything is possible. This could be made in about a year, with a few edits to the BL engine, and some other things.
Think first before you say something's impossible.

few edits to the BL engine
No.

could be possible, remake every default brick to be at each angle/flipped, have a stuffton of datablocks, and somehow link the correct bricks together, in other words
No.

In this forum whenever some says something is impossible, they almost always mean impossible for a normal player to do a good job of it because it would need engine edits.

Anyways, the grid system restricts bricks' movement. The smallest amount you can move a brick is what you see by pressing the keys, even by script all you can move is the collision, you can't move the actual rendered part

you can with new bricks, just have it be 1 more brick wide, then put the brick's image halfway over, although then you'll have gaps :D

with a lot edits to the BL engine, and a lot other things.

No one is going to do that, and if you did, no one else but the person to edit it would be able to use it, unless they distributed it, and I'm fairly certain Badspot would then commence an ass kicking.

And besides, the only way I see fit of messing with grid system is by making 3 point pyramids instead of cubes

Not without removing the brick grid.
Which would make the game horrible btw.
