The only mod I use is SPC (Single-Player-Commands). It allows you to spawn items (or mobs) and basically do what you like.

However, 'cheat' mods ruin the game a bit, so playing legit is better.

Mo's Creatures and Quintessential Creatures are great if you like creative, well-made custom mobs.

Shockah's Minerals adds many new kinds of crystals and ores, along with more plant types.

I would consider a minimap mod a cheat, personally. Part of Minecraft for me is finding ways to keep your bearings and orienting yourself in the world.

Are those the only ones you have? Betterlight might be conflicting with some other mod.
