Author Topic: Two suns in the sky by 2012  (Read 12908 times)

What the heck is it supposed to represent. If it is a place for vegetables under light to be grown, it wont work. Because we would lose our electricity, because the sun powers most of the electricity.

Who the forget told you that?

if this happens, all that will happen is an increase of light.

Which of course could cause problems. It apparently would last for a few weeks tops, so you know. 'Indoor farms' could be made, powered by solar panels perhaps, wind would still happen, chances are that at first there would be more, given the 'extra sun' is sudden and also supplies heat, but then after a bit it would go back to normal. So wind power would work. Coal, nuclear, water, etc., all of those energy sources would still work. The only thing that happens is extra sunlight for a bit, that's all. We'll obviously have to adjust, but who cares, it's just for a bit, as said before.

I personally don't think it would be bright enough to become another sun. It would be quite bright though. Kinda like the moon imo.

it would be brighter than the moon.

it's a supernova.

Also, keep this in mind;

Betelgeuse is lightyears away, and so, even if it did go supernova in 2012, we wouldn't see it until later on. Unless they are judging by what they see right now. (which makes more sense anyways, lol)

That's what I'm kind of confused about. Are they saying that it will explode in 2012 and the light won't reach us until millions of years later, or are they saying that it exploded millions of years ago and the light is coming in 2012?

It wouldn't be millions of years, you dumbass.
God damn doesn't anyone know anything about astronomy?

No, they're talking about its light actually reaching us
It's hundreds of years, not millions. Andromeda is 2.2 million lightyears away

I know a bit, if I were to be a scientist, I'd be an astronomer, I fancy it more than other kinds of science.

Betelgeuse is around 520-780 light years away, isn't it? They don't know exactly as it moves.

in your smog-ridden cities in America.
Not all American cities are smog ridden.
I hate stereotypers :I

Yeah, there isn't really all that much smog in the USA. New York City I know has a ton.
