I think braces look good on some people. I think I'm one of those people myself.

Got braces on December 2nd last year. I had the pain for about 2-3 days, but I think I was just unlucky seeing as my orthodontist doesn't realize his own strength. You might be getting them tightened in 6 weeks, or just a check up. Tightening them isn't that bad. Hurts for a small while.

What colors did you get?

I picked red and black, eventually went with all black after a while.
