GANTZ, sci-fi anime, ALIENS EVERYWHERE.
Hellsing, vampire anime, BLOOD EVERYWHERE.

As for comedy I recommend Ore no Imouto.

Soul Eater. Honestly, best anime I've ever watched. You can see full episodes on youtube on Funimation's channel.

Basically about a school run by "Lord Death (AKA Grim Reaper)" to train "Meisters" to use "Weapons (People who can transform into weapons)" to fight off the evil Afreets, who steal human souls.

It sounds really weird but it's awesome. Trust me.
