This mod used to be good, but the creators gave up on it, due to very poor decisions as far as new content vs. bug fixing is concerned. Now, the mod is dead.
The mod originally started as a Desert Combat-esque mod for Half-Life 1. It was poorly ported to Source, and after a few years of cleaning it up, it was listed as one of the featured Steam mods that could be downloaded directly through Steam, along with other mods such as D.I.R.T., Age of Chivalry, and Synergy. Synergy is currently the only one out of those four that has not failed, yet (it's on its way). All of the others are dead.
Basically, with the Steam release, they got a surge of new players and popularity, and it was generally recognized as one of the best Source mods out there. It was really good at the time. But it went nowhere after that. With the release of Windows 7 and updated Source, a plethora of new bugs entered the game, and the devs did very little to counteract them.
After a few years, the playerbase just wanted the infamously bad spawn camping to stop, and the devs had no response. Later, we found out that people had been leaving the dev team one by one, and now the only devs left were latecomers who had no idea what they were doing. This ended up being the stage for legendary flame wars between the last few, desperate devs and the remaining veterans, who hadn't moved on to Project Reality/Red Orchestra/ArmA 2.
This is certainly one of the messiest of mod deaths. Quite a tragedy, too, seeing how much potential there was. At least Age of Chivalry was put to sleep properly by a proud and hard-working dev team.
