Author Topic: I have to get surgery in a few weeks.  (Read 4057 times)

Cool! This makes us Scoliosis Buddies!
We can fight crime and not carry heavy objects over 10 pounds! :D
We need a meeting place. :cookieMonster:

It might be genetic.
No one in my family has it but me. So it's kind of a mystery.
your parents will hold this against you for years
Why?

Off-topic: This topic is now about running on staples and blood. :cookieMonster:

But before that happens

Did you get the surgery yet?

No. First time.

That's why I'm scared. D:

Good luck. My math teacher broke her arm and the bone hasn't healed yet. It's been about seven or eight months.

By the way, Nikki, how's your back doing?  :o

My JRA isn't as bad as yours, I don't think. Also I was going to get a screw in the top of my thigh where the pelvis joins, but that was for my weird one-leg-1cm-longer-than-the-other thing.

Have fun being cut open like an animal and have your leg re-broken.

Anyway, good luck! Hope it doesn't turn out terrible D:

i'm her brother, so i can tell you what i see
basically, when she got out of surgery her back hurt a LOT and she had to stay in bed for a week at the hospital
but then when we left her back hurt in the car
then after a week she felt normal, although sometimes she gets sharp pains that fade slowly for a minute
my advice is not to hold very heavy things, leave every schoolbook you can at school and carry the rest in a backpack
if it is heavy at all, then have somebody carry it for you like a slave
if you're still in a wheelchair for some reason, then hold in lap :P

Anyway, good luck! Hope it doesn't turn out terrible D:

Remember when I said I fractured my left leg?

Well, today I went to see a special Rheumatologist in Baltimore, (Horrible loving city, never go there) they told me that the leg already healed, but it healed wrong and it's all out of place.

So they looked at my X-rays and said the only thing that could fix my leg so I could walk again was surgery.

I also found out that I had Scoliosis and Osteoporosis, both being a result of my JRA.

Thanks :DD:
They most likely, since it healed wrong, will open up your leg, brake the bone, realign it, put plates ans screws in so that it heals properly, then do surgery after its almost fully healed, take out the screws and plates, then you should be okay. You'll also have to wear a cast for a long time.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm suuurgey, yes?
