im stuck with a broken copy of ratchet deadlocked because they couldnt use their own scratch fixer.
no way in hell im returning it so i can get denied because its not able to run.

You realize that if the game is scratched when you bought it you can return it for all of your money back (you can do this for any used game no matter if it's scratched or what for the first 7 days you own it) or a new disk, right?
It's store policy.

I had to do something for my business class, and what I did was I went and bought a brand new game from Gamestop $59.99. It was the last one in stock (I purposly pried to get a game that was last in stock, the game was GTA IV) I stayed in the store for exactly 5 minutes looking around, and then went to the counter and said "I wanna sell this" so he was like 'srs' I said 'yes' he gave me $13 for it. When it was still in its foil. When I walked out of the store, I saw him put it back on the new release shelf.

Since then I haven't gone to Gamestop for ANYTHING. if I need to sell a game, I go to a store around here called Disc Replay. They give you 3$ off of whatever they sell it at. If they sell it for 50 they give you 47. I know for a fact they do that for everything because one of my close friends works there.

You realize that's violation of store policy right? You can return new games within 5 days if they are unopened for full refund.

All of these "gamestop sucks" arguments are all about bad clerks or bad stores. The chain as a whole is fine, and you can find good stores, the same as you can get a stuff-tastic burger from McDonalds the next town over but the local one is fantastic. It all depends on the people, really.

Then why didn't you just return it.

Don't expect them to be in business for very long.

it was before i knew that reciepts were valuable and it wasnt a problem until i wanted to play on a difficulty ABOVE very easy.

So it's your fault, not the store's.

1: He was doing that as part of a class. The obvious response to a return is that full money back as it is wished. He was looking to see the perfectly new game to see what policy would allow.
2: My GameStop is good, although the new employees are overly enthusiastic about making the sale over good advice.
3: They've been in business for as long as I can clearly remember. I have vague memories of conversions, but why would they suddenly go out now?

hey,i have a DS lite with a broken hinge. Its loose and flops open and all. I know Gamestop won't take it. But how much would it cost to fix?

Back when the DSi was nearing launch, I gave them my DS Lite. It fell like a month or two before extremely flatly on some thin soft material. I didn't think anything of it until about like 20 minutes later when I went to use it. I thought "Hmm, this feels o- OH GOD!" as I saw the hinge itself broken nearly off. I quickly taped the whole thing closed, set it aside.

My point: They took it as something to refurbish with a completely broken off hinge. Although now it's quite old, so not sure if they still would.

wait,so will they take it? or not?

They might if you can get them to refurbish it for resale.
