Author Topic: GameStop (Or other direct method) Trade-In Values?  (Read 2468 times)

I wish to purchase the upcoming Nintendo 3DS from GameStop. As told by their promotions, giving them a DS Lite will take $50 off the $250 price tag. I will use my sisters DS Lite and give her my DSi in return. I will still need another $200 for it. I have a few games I could trade-in toward it. This includes F.E.A.R. 2, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Kirby Canvas Curse, and Pokemon Trozei. I have heard GameStop's Trade-In prices are ripoffs, but I have no means to send out games, so selling them online is out of the question. Any suggestions?

Get a job. Go to McDonalds, put in an application. Same for Burger King, Wendy's, Arby's, and KFC.

Edit: My post still stands

I already pre-ordered Pokemon Black. I could trade in the games toward that, get the extra credit, and put it toward the system. Any idea of an estimate where that would leave me off?

Gamestop is cheap, and they don't pay for what a game's worth.

Suggestions that don't require me to pay shipping costs or leave my house more than to a location considered 'hip' for a teenager to go to? Well, maybe not teenager, since I'm 18 in June.

"4 games that cost $60 each? ...Heres $5 "

Two of them are crappy old DS games. F.E.A.R. wasn't too good, Vegas 2 is old as hell.

But ya, I know. Any suggestions?

Sell on amazon or something full price.
It may take a while, but you should be on time for the 3DS

My guess is there is some sort of memo for trade-ins, and it reads:
gameboy game: $.05
ds/psp game: $1
any sort of third gen (wii, ps3, xbox 360): $4

seriously, you have to be some cheap-ass sicko to get away with putting trade-ins like this
if it's sold used as $30, give us $25 damnit.

Well, they do need a profit, although the amount they want is ridiculous. They sell used $5 less, and buy from you for $15 less than that...

They do it for profit. If you trade in a game and get 25$ and it was orignally 30$, there only gonna make 5$. So they most likely don't want it anymore.

Scratch, mega already posted it.

As I said, used games are $5 off. They'd have no profit at all. They probably get the games originally for $25.

Buying used games can result in 0% profit most of the time for the store, it's easy to say "give us money" when you don't know all of the information. When you've got like 30 people returning some stuffty Wii game, they'll give each person money, but the amount always depends on how many they have in stock, how new the game is, etc etc, or else they would take a financial hit. The used price is gouged a bit so they can make money back from the initial purchase, or else you'd see stores going under all over the place.
