Author Topic: Taking An AP Class Next Year  (Read 2022 times)

Taking World History AP next year as a Sophomore which is the only available AP class for Sophomores. My English teacher recommended me so I decided to take it and today the world history teacher came to our class to inform us about the class.

It appears that I will be doing an average of two hours of homework for that single class. I have an average of four hours of homework from my normal classes. That totals up to six hours and eight hours if it's a really bad night. I get home at 2:30 and start my homework at about 3:30 once I finish up some tasks. I should complete my homework about 9:30 which leaves me 30 minutes to enjoy myself before having to go to bed.

Goodbye social life! (As if I ever had one. )

Congratsz

Indeed but it's a double edge sword. My weekdays are going to be butt forgeted by school work.

EDIT: Plus I hate history so forget.

My High School sucks for AP, the only AP class in ALL of the years is AP English.

I've been in 2 AP classes so far. First was AP European History. Huge mistake. Everybody who took the class struggled to get even a B, mainly because the teacher never actually taught us. He just gave us work, made us do it, and expected us to just read it all from the text book. He hardly ever discussed anything, and when he did, the depth of it was superficial at best. Ultimately, I passed with a C-, and I failed the AP Exam at the end of the year.

This year I'm in AP Literature & Composition, which is a pretty decent class. We just read novels, write essays on them, read and brown townyze poetry. It's cool, but I'm not too great at it. Luckily, there's enough work that I can pass with a decent grade (C+ to a B). Hopefully I can pass the AP Exam this year with a good (or even minimal) score.

Next year, I plan to take AP Government & AP Economics (semester classes), and I'm contemplating taking AP Calculus or AP Statistics for my math class.

The amount of work you get in AP is nothing compared to the amount you get in IB.

HOW CAN YOU HATE HISTORY

I LOVE IT

There's not even really that much work in AP classes. It's just harder.

6 hours of homework = you're working way too slow.

I know what you mean. Out of all terms, History was my favorite.

And congrats on getting somewhere in life keonesan!

On some levels, AP is more difficult than IB, but in general, IB is more difficult.

Well, you know what they say.

Would Honors Geometry be considered AP?
