Author Topic: The Zeitgeist Movement  (Read 10991 times)

From what I can gather from Yuki's posts I'm certain Yuki knows very near nothing about it.
I'm not writing a thesis paper to prove my knowledge of your subject when you just got pissed that we were summarizing it in two lines.

And then the Vikings showed up, beheaded you, killed your son, and raped your wife and took her away while burning your log cabin to the ground behind them.
We never saw it coming. :'(

That's the problem I have with zeitgeist's proposed solution, guys. I'm too cynical about human nature to believe that we'll be completely free of forgeted up people and there's no method in place to get rid of that. I'm 100% in agreement but it's not like there can't be a way in a global resource based true economy. I also don't like the lack of realism in the transition.

I'm quite aware that Ad Hominem is a logical fallacy, but it's not the center of my argument and therefore irrelevant, but go ahead and be a pretentious rooster. Thanks for telling me what my post is about, I forgot.
I would assume that you'd like to know why I'd be so quick dismiss your argument in a logical discussion. By the way, sarcasm is the protest of people who are weak.

I never really understood the name either.
zeitgeist  (ˈzaɪtˌɡaɪst)
— noun
the spirit, attitude, or general outlook of a specific time or period, esp as it is reflected in literature, philosophy, etc.

Oh, it's the spirit of a time.
Either way, you guys are posting so fast.

Yeah, you're a pretentious richardhead. Your holier-than-thou know-everything attitude is downright loving annoying. You're not a better person for being "logical", and your emotionless facade is stupid. I'm really hating everything about you right now.

im just talking about being more independent as people
instead of depending on other people to pay for you or something of the sorts
i never said you couldn't donate lol
Oh I see.

The way you put it confused me. Sorry. :c

It's mostly minor disagreements and some of the evidence they provide is sketchy. And I DON'T defend the entire movement, I'd just appreciate it if people understood the movement before trying to debate it with me.
Why do you want folks to understand it? What's your reason for spreading its 'word'?

And excuse me if I'm repetitive or you've answered in another way, I'm just curious.

That's not very nice. :c

I liked it better in the olden days. When people were connected in small communities, while still taking care of their own land; Living off its great bounty. When the air was fresh and the quilts made at home - when the cabins were log and the culture was simple. A "system" ran as a family, a household, in small bundles and in cooperation with each other. No worry given to monetary gain, but rather to simple sentiment and joy. Love. When people grew as one and blossomed as individuals....
What parts do you agree with? Is there anything major that you disagree with, or are they just minor?
I'd rather your olden days with today's technology then todays days.

Also, look what de-Christianization did to the French Revolution.

Please, search this, as even a rationalist would know that sudden removal of religion brews up a stuffstorm.

I don't think that would work. :s

Or Genesis. Mainly Leviticus, Leviticus is pretty goddamn ridiculous.
The old testament is actually Jewish laws, their entire bible as far as I know, Jesus' teachings actually said to not concern yourself with observing every law, just to strive to be a good person.

Im not exactly seeing what this is supporting or fighting, what its even changing. All I really see is a blind group of people who just criticize what humanity has made, and acting as if their protests will actually do anything.

forget the less fortunate. they have less because they try less.

He specifically said that he was not going to change a single part of a letter of the old law.
